I am a designer, photographer, writer and educator based in New York City. I have an MFA from Yale School of Art, where I studied with design legend Paul Rand. I’m the author of Playing with Color: 50 Graphic Experiments for Exploring Color Design Principles.

I’ve been a faculty member at the School of Visual Arts since 2002, where I teach first and second year courses the BFA Design program, including two-dimensional design & color theory, graphic design and fundamentals of typography. I also teach online courses and in-person workshops in SVA’s Continuing Education program. In addition to teaching at SVA, I offer an online color theory courses at Domestika.

My design practice is focused on personal projects, professional consultation and design for non-profit organizations. During the school year I live with my beautiful family in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, and spend summers in a cabin on Shelter Island.
